Constant Tension
The latch can be removed from most spring retractable reel to provide fluid on a constantly moving platform such as a mast or a crane arm.
EZ-Coil®
EZ-Coil® is a patented safety reel. For more information visit our EZ-Coil® page or call our sales team.
Flange
The disk either side of the hose reel drum. The size of the flange has a direct impact on how much hose can be stored on the reel. Most of our flanges have rolled edges and ribbed for added safety and strength.
Fluid Path
The complete path fluid or gas uses to travel through the reel. It is important that all components on this path are suitable for the fluid/gas being used.
Guide Arm
Used on spring retractable reels to the feed out the hose. It also stops the hose from coming off the side of the drum as well as stopping the hose unraveling when not in use. Most of our hose reels have adjustable guide arms to suit a variety of applications.
Hose Stop/Hose Bumper
These small rubber components fit to the end of the hose and determine where the hose stops being wound onto the reel. For most applications it will be fitted somewhere near the end of the hose, for ceiling mounted applications it can be fitted further back to allow the hose to hang to the floor or bench where it is most useful.
I.D. (inside diameter)
This is the industry standard of measuring hose. We use the inside because it is constant unlike the outside which varies depending on the wall of the hose.
O.D. (outside diameter)
When we sell reels without hose we can a guide to the hose capacity based on the O.D.
Spring Cassette
The spring for all spring retractable reels is contained inside a cassette. Should there be a problem with the spring then on most of our models these can easily be changed.
Swivel
Sometimes called a swivel joint this component is the rotating part that allows the fluid or gas to be transferred through a rotating fluid path. The swivel contains seals or O-rings and which need to be suitable for the fluid/gas and pressure the reel is being used for. If you have questions on media compatibility check our chart.
Super Hub™
Super Hub™ is a new design that supports the main shaft on single framed hose reels. It provides extra strength and reduces the chances of failure.
